Clinical hypnosis is a technique used to help YOU alter your state of awareness so you can focus on improving a problem you're having. It's often proven to work to relieve the symptoms of depression, anxiety, chronic pain, irritable bowel syndrome, and to effectively address behavioral issues such as smoking, weight loss, and nail biting. Hypnosis is safe and you are in control of what you do at all times. You will not be asleep and you will not "cluck like a chicken". Unfortunately, there are many myths associated with this wonderful skill. I'm happy to discuss any questions or concerns you may have about this option. I have had a natural ability for self hypnosis since the age of six. I know it works for a lot of people. Does it work for everyone?.....No. This is true for any other behavioral health intervention. Different types of therapies produce different results for different people. This does not mean that a therapy is invalid if it doesn't work for everyone who tries it. If it works for you, then it's effective.
Your outcome will vary depending on your receptivity/skill ability for this type of experience. Sometimes people are afraid to try new things because of the negative things they've heard. More positive things need to be said about hypnosis, like how it puts you more in control of the things that have been controlling you like your depression, your inability to lose weight, or being able to stop smoking. How about being better able to face new problems because of an increased level of confidence that you'll have. I could go on, but you should see for yourself.
You can accomplish many things with this skill, if you develop it. Still doubtful? If you've ever been caught day dreaming or have experienced "highway hypnosis", more than likely you are a good candidate for clinical hypnosis. As with any skill, you must practice hypnosis to become proficient at it. At the very least, you should see yourself becoming more confident in your ability to deal more effectively with your situation. A feeling of mastery over a problem can make all the difference. Your hypnosis sessions will be tailored to your situation. No cookie cutter scripts used here. The number of sessions will vary according to your needs. Typically you will experience 3-10 sessions.
